Referrers

General Practitioners

Dr Williams is always happy to take calls from GPs, physiotherapists and other health practitioners to provide advice or accept urgent referrals.  He can be reached via the Northern Beaches Hospital switchboard.

GP referrals letters can be given to the patient or sent directly to the contact details listed above.

Allied health referrers:

Dr Williams greatly values his working relationships with local physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, chiropractors and other health practitioners, who are often the first point of contact for many patients with hip pain.  A letter detailing your patient's progress and your clinical opinion is warmly welcomed.  To obtain a medicare rebate however, patients will also need to have a valid referral from their general practitioner.

Locations and availability

For patient convenience, Dr Williams consults at Frenchs Forest, St Leonards and Gosford.  He accepts referrals for both private and public patients.

Dr Williams is fortunate to have regular private operating lists at the Northern Beaches Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital, both of which provide world class orthopaedic care.

Dr Williams operates on adult patients without private health insurance at the Northern Beaches Hospital.  Patients generally require a residential address within the Northern Sydney Local Health District to be eligible.

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead:

Dr Williams runs a regular outpatient clinic at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.  All referrals are now submitted online through Consultmed.

Dr Williams undertakes complex paediatric hip surgery on his regular elective list.  Privately insured patients may also be offered surgery at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, if required due to the complexity of management.

Regional patients

Due to his subspecialty interest in complex hip preservation procedures such as hip arthroscopy and periacetabular osteotomy, Dr Williams often receives referrals from other orthopaedic specialists throughout NSW.  Whilst an in-person examination is essential for assessment and diagnosis, an initial Telehealth consultation can often be arranged to establish the likely diagnosis and arrange appropriate imaging to make the visit to Sydney as valuable as possible.
